Ayahuasca might be Amazonian, but DMT also grows in our backyard.
Join us for a unique event exploring the psychedelic heritage of Acacia, Australia’s iconic wattle trees. Hosted by The Mescaline Garden and led by ethnobotanist, natural products chemist and science communicator Dr Liam Engel, this talk will dive into the deep roots and powerful alkaloids of Australia's most magical flora.
Australia is home to over 900 Acacia species, several of which are rich in tryptamines, β-carbolines and other bioactive compounds. We’ll unpack the cultural, spiritual, and ecological significance of these native plants — including their potential parallels with the famed Amazonian brew, ayahuasca.
Expect stories of ceremony, chemistry, conservation and connection. We’ll touch on indigenous relationships with psychedelics, psychoactive plant foods, and current sustainability issues. A Q&A will round out the event with open discussion around plant sentience, chemistry and culture.
🍻 Stay for a wattle beer
Thanks to the legends at Wildflower, attendees will have access to a limited-release Acacia-fermented ale, made with wild wattle yeast and tree-ripened apricots, aged for over three years. Your ticket gets you a discount on your first schooner — or grab more for $12 a pop at the bar. The brewery is open until 8:00pm, so feel free to stick around.
🌱 Rare plants for sale
We’ll also have a curated selection of psychoactive and ethnobotanical plants available on the day — perfect for collectors, growers, and the curious.
This is an afternoon to celebrate wattle phytochemistry, psychedelic heritage and botanical curiosity. Don’t miss out.
